4th of July
Dana Point provides some of the best boater parking of any harbor, but no amount of parking is enough on the Fourth of July holiday. If you plan to enjoy the holiday at the harbor please keep in mind the following tips in mind:
- The SHOW is scheduled to begin at 9 pm.
- The firework staging barge will be anchored to the East of the harbor entrance.
- No trailers, RV’s, or vehicles longer than 24 ft. are allowed in the marina lots. Vehicles parking in fire lanes will be towed.
-
- Security personnel will monitor the parking gates and close the lots once they are full.
- The Harbor will be closed to INCOMING traffic at 7:30 pm and will remain so until after the fireworks show and traffic has cleared.
- Plan ahead — Bring supplies down early.
- Once you park— stay put! If you leave you might not have a parking space when you return. Limit the number of cars you bring down.
- Absolutely no personal fireworks allowed in the marina — This is a fire hazard and a serious violation of marina rules.
- The City of Dana Point provides a Free Parking Shuttle into the Harbor from Dana Hills High School, 33333 Golden Lantern. Shuttles will run from 10 am to 11pm (for more information call 949-248-3530)
- The DP Harbor Association will provide a Free HARBOR ONLY shuttle which will run 10 am to 9 pm servicing locations within the Harbor — Restaurant/Retail area, Doheny State Beach, Ocean Institute & OC Sailing and Events Center/Baby Beach.
- At all times be safe and patient! Be respectful of others.

Environmental Tips
- Prevent oily discharge from the bilge — Keep your engine well maintained to prevent leaks. Place an oil absorbent pad under your engine where drips may occur and in your bilge. Check the pads often and dispose of them as hazardous waste.
- Spill—proof your oil changes— Use an oil change pump to transfer oil to a spill proof container. Wrap a plastic bag or absorbent pad around the oil filter to prevent oil from spilling into the bilge.
- Spill—proof your fueling practices— Prevent fuel spills by filling fuel tanks slowly and carefully and by using absorbent pads or rags to catch drips and spills. Don’t “top off” or overflow your fuel tank and leave 5% empty to allow fuel room to expand as it warms.
